Over 25 years of Experience

Work Doctor consulting began in 1985 while Dr. Gary Namie, a social psychologist, was a university management professor. Prior to 1998, projects ranged from government program evaluation to executive strategic planning to statistical process control to team building. In addition, both he and Dr. Ruth Namie have directed internal corporate management development departments. We know organizations from the inside and recognize the shortcomings of an HR-driven solution. Bullying is leadership's problem and can only be solved by executives willing to step up.

Evidence-Based Interventions

We created our evidence-based, comprehensive workplace intervention — the Work Doctor® Blueprint. It is informed by our empirical research as well as the work of leading occupational health and organizational behavior researchers. The Blueprint has been perfected with clients since 1998. We bring to organizations an unrivaled profound knowledge of all aspects of bullying coupled with a background in clinical and organizational psychology. The Work Doctor® Blueprint is the only comprehensive approach to workplace bullying daring to call it what it is -- not incivility or poor communication -- so that it can be attacked effectively.

More Than Harassment,
More Than Diversity

Because of the growing awareness about workplace bullying, traditional anti-harassment trainers may belatedly wish to claim expertise. But the impact on people from illegal harassment is different than from bullying. Consultants without extensive experience with bullied individuals and organizations, coupled with behavioral training, like us -- the originals -- are not equipped to solve bullying problems in the workplace like the Work Doctor.

The American Leaders

Work Doctor principals, as founders of the Workplace Bullying Institute, introduced the term "workplace bullying" to the U.S. in 1997. We conduct research, write the books, deliver speeches, publish scientific articles, educate the courts, and inform the media like no other Americans. If you say "workplace bullying," it's because of the groundbreaking work we have done for 12 years.

Media Coverage

The research and opinions of Work Doctor principals have appeared in over 850 print and broadcast interviews, frequently featured in media outlets showcased here. The second edition of our popular book, The Bully at Work, was new in June 2009. We authored the first scientific national survey of workplace bullying in the United States. (WBI-Zogby). We are featured in the upcoming documentary "Murder By Proxy."
