Creating the Policy and Enforcement Procedures


An explicit behavioral standard is the cornerstone of an impersonal, systemic solution to workplace bullying. Policies aren't created in response to one person's outrageous conduct. (Though it is often the impetus for doing it.) Policies will apply to all employees at all levels of the organization, not just to offensive individuals.

The policy is the first step in the prevention of bullying. Policy creation is an early indispensable component of The Work Doctor Blueprint system.

Dr. Gary Namie, facilitates your designated Policy Writing Group through a 2-day proprietary process to create the policy with formal and informal enforcement procedures. Our unique, in-depth expertise anticipates pitfalls for traditional interventions. We create innovative investigatory processes and remedies. This results in 4 deliverables: policy, informal solutions, formal complaint procedures, and education rollout plan.

Without collaborative design by a Policy Writing Group, there can be no exploration of the employer's values and historical and future expectations regarding abusive conduct at work. No boilerplate works. Policies are not one-size-fits-all. No tearsheet policy from a book will do. Only those who work at your organization understand the idiosyncrasies of their unique workplace culture. The Group is also expert at anticipating implementation hurdles, something else you can't get from a book.

Creating a Policy


We will create your workplace bullying policy with you!

Beforehand, we provide the team leader with instructions for using our proprietary questions that guide the group through a 1 day-long creative meeting. Our process results in a policy specific to your organization with all of the accompanying ethical and logistical questions answered. After the preliminary group meeting is finished, the group calls into our office and Dr. Gary Namie facilitates the finalization of the policy, formal complaint response system and the informal resolution procedures with the group.

The fee includes up to three (3) hours facilitation (by speakerphone or Skype) for your assembled policy writing group by Dr. Namie.

Fee: $3,500 (USD) for one day of policy creation and up to 3 hours of additional group facilitation



Policy Evaluation

You create your own anti-bullying policy. We'll review it. We are happy to lend our expertise by reviewing your existing or newly proposed policies. We will provide feedback and and suggest modifications for improvement.

Fee: $1,500 for policy review and up to two (2) hours of feedback by telephone (in 1-2 sessions).
